Champions Barbecue Alliance Kids Que Division

CBA Kids Que Division Overview

Objective: The Champions Barbecue Alliance (CBA) aims to provide young participants with the opportunity to engage in competitive cooking, mirroring the structure of the adult division.

For the event to qualify, the event must include at least 12 participants in total, combining both junior and senior participants.

It is preferred, though not required, for kids to cook in a designated area. Final decision is made by the promoter.

Only the top 5 events per cooker will count towards the points chase.

Event must be scheduled 90 days in advance.  There will be no stand-alone event, it must be paired with a CBA Sanctioned event

Protein Selection: Promoters are required to select one protein from the following options for each event:

Chicken (wings) – Pork (pork chop) – Beef (steak)

Should promoters opt for a protein outside these three, the event will be classified as a jackpot (open) and will not contribute to the points chase.

Event Administration: The Future of BBQ will be organized by the promoter, who retains the authority to finalize the chosen protein for their respective event.

Points System: The Future of BBQ points chase will align with the CBA points structure, running from December 1 to November 30 annually. To be eligible for points, participants must pay an annual membership fee of $25. This membership provides access to tracking points and standings throughout the competition year. Membership must be paid prior to the event for the points to count.

Divisions: Competitors will be classified into two age divisions:

Junior Division: Ages 6-11

Senior Division: Ages 12-17

Participants will be placed in a division based on their age as of November 30th of the competition year.

Competition Guidelines: Participants must prepare entries sufficient for six judges. The following specifications apply:

No garnish allowed. Foil must be placed at the bottom of the tray.

All proteins will be judged with a fork and knife during the judging process.

These guidelines ensure uniformity with the adult division’s standards, promoting a consistent competition experience.

This is a kids cookoff event—parents may help lighting the fire and maintaining but let the kids cook and have fun.
